3-Chuck and 4-Chuck

3-Chuck:
  • best for long, lighter tube workflows where follow-up support improves consistency
4-Chuck:
  • required for larger diameters/heavier sections where stability is the priority

Why This Matters on the Floor

  • High-speed chuck rotation (up to 120–150 r/min) for faster cycle time
  • Near-zero tailing to maximize material utilization
  • Semi-automatic loading (typically 6–7 tubes per cycle) to reduce handling labor
  • Servo follow-up support to maintain accuracy on long or thin-wall tubes
What You Can Produce
Complex End Cuts
Miter cuts, cope joints, and complex geometries that would require multiple manual operations completed in a single setup.
Hole Patterns
Precisely located holes, slots, and cutouts positioned accurately along the tube length.
Notches & Joints
Tube-to-tube connection geometries cut ready for welding without manual fitting.
Weldment-Ready Parts
Parts come off the machine ready for assembly—no secondary operations, no manual cleanup.

The Business Case for In-House Tube Cutting

Eliminate Outsourcing Costs
Most shops pay 15–25% markups on outsourced tube work. That margin stays in your pocket when you cut in-house.
Control Your Schedule
Your orders, your priority. No more waiting in someone else's production queue.
Win New Contracts
Tube cutting capability lets you bid on work you currently turn away—or refer to competitors.
Reduce Handling
Parts go from raw tube to finished component without leaving your facility. Fewer touches mean fewer errors.
Faster Delivery
Same-day turnaround on tube components. Your customers notice the difference.

How This Tube Platform Is Built

Tube and profile cutting is unforgiving. Long workpieces flex under their own weight. Thin walls vibrate under rotation. Tails turn into scrap. The difference between a tube laser that pays for itself in 18 months and one that fights you every shift comes down to the clamping, the motion, and the support — not the laser power on the spec sheet.

Here's what's inside the Vantix tube platform.
Open-Frame, Stress-Relieved Machine Bed
The tube platform uses a welded structural steel open-frame base. After welding, the full assembly goes through high-temperature stress-relief annealing and precision machining on a large gantry mill — giving you straight, flat, level reference surfaces across the full working length.
Why it matters:
  • Vibration-resistant under continuous 24-hour production
  • Holds geometry over years — no creeping misalignment on long tubes
  • Open-frame layout keeps the footprint tight and access convenient for service
Fully Enclosed Z-Axis Module
The Z-axis carries the cutting head. On most import systems it sits exposed to fumes, slag, and fine metal dust — and it's usually the first thing that drifts out of spec.

Vantix fully encloses the Z-axis module inside a sealed structure. Optimized mass distribution reduces moving inertia, which shortens settling time and lets the head hold focus during high-speed profiling and piercing.
Why it matters:
  • Contamination-related wear is dramatically reduced
  • Maintenance intervals stretch out
  • Focus accuracy stays stable during corners, transitions, and pierce cycles
Multi-Chuck Clamping Architecture — 3-Chuck vs. 4-Chuck
Clamping is where long-tube accuracy lives or dies. Vantix ships two configurations — pick the one that matches your work mix.
3-Chuck vs 4-Chuck Configuration
Best For
  • 3-Chuck: Long, lighter tube workflows where material utilization matters most
    4-Chuck: Ultra-long, thin-walled, heavy-wall, or large-diameter tubes
Middle Support
  • 3-Chuck: One middle chuck minimizes vibration and deflection during rotation
4-Chuck: Four independent clamping points distribute support evenly
Tail Material
  • 3-Chuck: Low tail waste; maximized yield on standard tube
    4-Chuck: Further reduced tail material
Concentricity
  • 3-Chuck: Strong rotational stability
3-Chuck: Enhanced concentricity — ideal for precision structural work
High-Performance Chuck System — 120–150 rpm Rotation
  • High rotational speed (up to 120–150 r/min) — cuts cycle time directly on complex multi-cut tube jobs
  • Lightweight aluminum alloy clamping plate — lower rotating inertia, faster acceleration, better energy efficiency
  • Steel belt roller-type synchronization — minimal backlash, consistent phase alignment across chucks, critical for long-tube concentricity
  • Cross-type dual roller structure — distributes clamping force evenly, reduces tube slippage and vibration at high rpm
  • Sealed internal structure — slag, dust, and debris stay out of chuck mechanisms, cutting jamming risk and unexpected downtime
Tube Profile Scanning & Intelligent Centering
A high-sensitivity scanning system captures the actual contour and diameter of each incoming tube. The CNC uses that data in real time to locate tube center, compensate for dimensional tolerances, and adjust the cutting path dynamically.
Why it matters:
  • No manual teach-in — setup time on mixed or tolerance-variable batches drops
  • Real-time dimensional compensation keeps accuracy on out-of-round or stock-tolerance tubes
  • Operators spend fewer minutes per batch on alignment, more minutes cutting
Zero-Tailing Cutting
Both chuck configurations support near-zero tail material cutting — the system processes the final section of the tube into usable parts instead of scrap.
Why it matters:
  • Higher yield per length of raw material — direct hit to material cost
  • Fewer setups per shift
  • Less handling, less waste to dispose of
Servo Follow-Up Material Support System
Long or thin-walled tubes deflect under their own weight. Fixed passive supports can't compensate as load distribution shifts during feeding.

The Vantix support is servo-controlled and tracks the cutting head position. It provides localized lift directly beneath the active cutting zone, keeping the tube at correct height and reducing focus deviation. The support mechanism automatically adapts to round, square, rectangular, and special-shape profiles without manual changeover.
Why it matters:
  • Cutting accuracy stays consistent across the full tube length — no mid-tube accuracy fade
  • No manual adjustment when switching profile types
  • Thin-wall and long-tube work becomes routine, not a skilled-operator problem
Suspended Fireproof Curtain
A suspended fireproof curtain sits between the cutting zone and the operator area. It contains molten metal spatter, sparks, and reflective radiation during high-power tube cutting — and also prevents slag from accumulating on rear guide rails, motion components, and tailstock chuck assemblies.
Why it matters:
  • Real operator protection, not just a signed-off safety checkbox
  • Rear bed components stay clean → longer service life, lower maintenance
  • Supports higher-power, thicker-wall work safely
Semi-Automatic Loading Device
The semi-automatic loader handles 6–7 tubes per cycle, guiding them smoothly into the loading position.
Why it matters:
  • One operator can run the machine instead of two
  • Consistent feeding = consistent part-to-part accuracy
  • Labor intensity drops on medium- and high-volume work
